UAZ Natural History Collections

General Information

Ecology and Evolutionary Biology maintains in trust for the State the UAZ Museum of Natural History Zoological Collections, which support research in the Department, University, State, and international scientific community. The museum is home to about 300,000 specimens distributed across 5 collections, covering much of the American Southwest and a sizeable portion of Mexico. All collections are located on the University of Arizona campus in the Biological Sciences East Building.

The collections include: 
  • Herpetology     
    ~58,000 specimens
  • Ichthyology    
    ~175,000 specimens
  • Mammalogy    
    ~28,000 specimens
  • Ornithology      
    ~18,000 specimens (skins, skeletal, egg and nests)
  • Invertebrate
