Title: From Rainforests to Drylands: How Climate Variability and Change Shape Ecosystems
Biosketch: Julia K. Green has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Arizona since Spring 2023. She also serves as an Associate Editor for Science Advances. Prior to these appointments she worked as a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley with Dr. Trevor Keenan, and at the French laboratory LSCE with Drs. Philippe Ciais and Ashley Ballantyne. She earned her PhD in 2019 from Columbia University with Dr. Pierre Gentine. Her work uses remote sensing, model, and eddy-covariance flux data with computational approaches to improve understanding of vegetation responses to climate and weather variability, including extreme events such as droughts and heatwaves. Her work tends to be large-scale, with focuses on dryland and tropical ecosystems, as well as global syntheses. In her spare time, she enjoys cycling, hiking, and spending time with her family, friends and dog Bracken.
